The drive
Thirty kilometres
of coast road
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is the airport for Hoi An. There's no airport in Hoi An itself. The airport sits right inside Da Nang city, and Hoi An's old town is about 30 km to the south, so the drive takes around 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic and where your hotel is.
Most of the way you follow the coast road: beach resorts on one side, the Marble Mountains on the other, then rice fields as you come into Hoi An. If you land late, it's a quiet, easy drive. If you land in the afternoon, it's a nice first look at the country.
One thing that confuses people: since July 2025, Hoi An has officially been part of Da Nang city. If your hotel address says "Da Nang" but you booked Hoi An, nothing is wrong. Our Hoi An or Da Nang guide explains the difference, and helps if you're still deciding where to stay.
